Pier Boxing Self Defense CourseSelf defense courses unlike martial arts should not require long periods of skill learning and physical conditioning. In Pier Boxing Self Defense Course, the students will be taught the basic but essential skills & tactics to protect themselves from dangerous criminals. Currently, Singapore's Wu Lin martial arts club is our only appointed self defence center to teach Pier Boxing.
Wu Lin martial arts club is now giving Pier Boxing training to anybody who sign up for any of the martial club's classes at no additional charges. You can also book for a private training session at Wu Lin martial arts club to learn Pier Boxing if you need privacy. As long as you are not suffering from any disabilities all the basic moves and techniques in Pier Boxing can be learned within one day. After learning you can go teach your family members & friends so that they can be protected too.. Pier Boxing self defense trainings are easy to learn & remember, you do not require exceptional fitness or martial arts background to participate. All students will learn at their own pace with close guidance from the instructors. Within a single lesson you will acquire valuable techniques that can save your life in a deadly situation. |
Pier Boxing Self Defense Training
Many other self defense schools in Singapore unfortunately charges S$1000-S$2000 for a 1-4 day self defense course. To make the matter worst, they are teaching combat techniques that are too much complicated, a normal person (layman) with no martial arts training or physical conditioning will not be able to execute these techniques. A laymen do not have the strength and reflexes to do so, as they will not be practicing it for a very long time. These techniques are of course recommended by martial artists, formal ring fighters or ex-military personnel who believe will best work for themselves, but they have not factored in the amount of time and effort put into martial arts practice and physical training in order to achieve their level of proficiency, as well as to cultivate the optimal mentality. We consider it very dangerous and irresponsible too as it will foster false confidence in their unknowing students, when in face with an actual assailant in the streets their students will be dead.

We believe that in any self defence situation, the priority is to get away from danger instead of trying to do bring down or hurt the person attacking you. In a life threatening situation you do not have to luxury to test the cool techniques you have learnt, what you must do is to hit and run. If you could ever avoid getting entangled in a struggle with assailants, you must. Because fighting is not a part of your life, don’t get yourself involved.
That is why self defense moves should never be too complicated. They should be based on principles and theories which apply to everything rather than many techniques to cover everything. When fear and confusion takes over, you don’t have the right mind to execute the techniques you know, and this is true even for most martial artists. This is why we need to keep it simple, in our Pier boxing self defense courses only the striking, defense and evasion of attacks from different angles will be covered .

Below are all in the consideration for the safety of people who have no prior martial arts training in the Pier Boxing Self Defence Course.
Pier Boxing Self Defence lessons will start with survival tactics, the right SOP and mindset when encountering situations which may call for self defense. Next, effective yet simple techniques in Punches, Kicks, Breaking Free of Holds & Joint Breaking will be taught. |
Combat Moves In Pier Boxing |
Why punches and kicks? Because advanced moves such as throws, takedowns, joint locks, elbows and knees are only effective if you are a trained person. These will not work against assailants who are strong and have good reflexes, and not to mention assailants who have prior training in martial arts. However punches and kicks will always pose a bigger threat to an assailant when thrown from an untrained person, much more than any kind of combat moves.
To explain it more elaborately, elbows require very close distance to be employed as strikes, even when used in defense they will not have the dexterity of our hands. To use throws, takedowns and joint locks, it requires not just strength but also refined technique, it is too demanding for the layman.
Grappling & wrestling moves are also useless when you are facing multiple attackers, and this is the same even for expert grapplers. In a no holds bar street combat situation, falling or deliberately pulling any attacker down on the ground will be your greatest mistake. Once you are on the ground the other attackers will surround you and stomp you till death. Using grappling moves also put you in danger of being gouged or poked in the eyes, hit in the groin or even get bitten, which is totally not worth the trying. The attackers may be dirty, smelly or carrying infectious diseases. Would you risk hugging and rolling on the ground with an attacker who have rashes or rotten sores on his body?
For knees, most people are not confident in delivering knee strikes without getting in a clinch, and being vulnerable to the above mentioned factors. One thing you must never do is to attempt to grab or wrestle a knife welding attacker. You will definitely get yourself stabbed as the attacker has more reach, more confident than you. Unless you have far more speed and reflexes you will not be able to overcome a knife wielding attacker.
